New Building, New Milestones: See What’s Coming to Venture

Dear Venture Family,

On Wednesday, July 30th, the Venture Academy School Board voted unanimously to move forward with an ambitious new building on the school’s 50-acre site. The construction will be jointly managed by Market and Johnson and Hoeft Builders, who will serve as the school’s general contractors. Local architects, River Valley Architects (RVA), will act as the design team for Venture. RVA plans to incorporate many of the innovative and cutting-edge elements that you have seen in our 3D modeling. These include science labs, a competition gymnasium, innovation labs, a school kitchen, a music wing, and dedicated access from the frontage road.

The new facility is on track to open in the fall of 2027 as originally intended. The final design drawings and construction documents are expected to be completed by late fall, which will allow for bidding to take place in mid-winter. Weather permitting, construction is set to begin in March or early April 2026. Both contractors are dedicated to ensuring that the building is ready to welcome students by late August 2027.

Modeling and planning of Venture’s high school has started. Various schedule models, course offerings, diploma tracks, internship programs, and athletic programming are all included in the design work. The intention is to identify, hire, and onboard a principal by late summer of 2026. Staff hiring is scheduled for February and March of 2027, with training taking place throughout the summer. The design team is currently considering opening grades 9 and 10 initially, while also exploring the possibility of launching a full high school (grades 9-12) in the fall of 2027.

We will be providing routine updates on progress throughout this coming school year. There will be a school community-wide meeting at Venture Academy, held in the gymnasium on Thursday, October 30th at 6:30 pm. Our contractors, architects, and school board members will present detailed plans and address any questions you may have.
