Summer Reading

2025 Summer Reading Program: AdVenture into Reading

Summer is here—and the learning journey continues! At Venture, we want to keep students growing all year long. To help prevent the summer slide and prepare students for a strong start in the fall, we invite all K–7 students to participate in our “AdVenture into Reading” program, launching May 31. For our full letter to families, check out our blog post.

Reading Requirements

Students entering Grades K–2:

  • Read 500 minutes total over the summer
  • That’s about 5 minutes per day
  • Reading aloud as a family or being read to counts!

Students entering Grades 3–7:

  • Read 800 minutes total
  • That’s about 10 minutes per day
  • Includes silent reading, reading aloud, or family reading time

Students entering Grades 6–7:

  • In addition to reading 800 minutes, select one book and create a project representing that book
  • Be creative—write, build, draw, perform, or design!
  • Submit your project during the first week of school.

All students must submit their reading log to their teacher during the first week of school. Logs will be graded based on completion.

Bonus Reading Challenges

Want to make reading even more fun? Try our optional reading challenges included in your packet!

  • Participate in as many or as few as you like
  • No grades—just a chance to win small prizes
  • Top individual reader and the highest reading grade level will be celebrated in the fall!
